talking toward Ethiopia

I've been going over my decision-making process in my head so much - sometimes it's helpful to actually talk about it...

Today I had a one-hour call with the program manager of the agency I'm probably going to use. She was super helpful and remarkably patient with all my questions. And, without trying to influence my decision, she helped me navigate through all the various factors in this decision. (age of child, health of child, difficulty of process, issues of transracial adoptions, program stability, timing, etc. etc. ad nauseum)

Unsurprisingly, I heard myself heading toward a decision for Ethiopia. Seems every which way I slice the really important factors, Ethiopia comes out ahead. And the more I talk about it with people, the more it seems right.

Somehow, I can do all this weighing and considering in my own head and still feel confused. But when I say it out loud, not only does the direction sound much more clear, it sounds really exciting, too!

it's funny, I see you more with a child from Ethiopia. I think that it is you travels and love of Africa.

It is amazing how doors open that we never 'knew' existed!

It is true that hearing something said aloud or by another person can really bring things into perspective. Congrats on your decision

It's great that you've got an agency that is willing to spend so much time with you and it's great that you're making use of the resource.

Finding your way though all of this and finding a program that fits is a huge accomplishment.

I vote for Ethiopia! Since I'm your sister, I expect my vote to be counted a few times, ok? :)
