church

I went to a new church today. My sister Kate went with me, which was nice.

(To tell the truth, at this point any church I attended would be a new church, as I haven't been going to church regularly for a long, long time.)

A church community is something that I'd like to have back in my life, and something I'd definitely want to be able to give any child I adopt.

It's interesting how the prospect of a child can help you focus on what you want. I want to have a spiritual community. A group of people outside work and family and friends - a separate place where the focus is on something outside of myself.

I've been missing having a spiritual practice, and I'm excited about the idea of finding one again.

The church was cool - small congregation, multicultural, very warm and open and welcoming. Love that. I'm going to keep going and hope it's a good fit for me.
