change inspiration
Hi y'all.
As I have mentioned previously, I am on a quest to get more healthy for Sproutie. (AKA, Project Gabby.)
I want to have lots of energy and be as fit as I can when she arrives. And also I want to *comfortably* fit in those horrible airplane seats for the loooong trip to Addis and back. And, I admit it, I also want to be a hottie more attractive and comfortable in my own skin. I want to verge on hottie-ness. :-)
I'm moving along, but it has been slow going so far - but I have plans to ramp it up. Now.
I'm looking for a few inspirational quotes or ideas that I can post for myself... I want to focus on becoming, not on losing. Growth and health and moving forward.
My new favorite, which I just ran across this morning, is a Poem, called "Risk", by Anais Nin:
Risk
when the risk
to remain tight
in a bud
was more painful
than the risk
it took
to Blossom.
I love that!!
Do you have any favorites to share??

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are born to make manifest the glory of God.

Here's one that I keep on my fridge:
Spirit of Life, come unto me.
Sing in my heart all the stirrings of compassion.
Blow in the wind, rise in the sea;
Move in the hand, giving life the shape of justice.
Roots hold me close; wings set me free.
Spirit of Life, come to me, come to me.
Hymn #123 from the Unitarian-Universalist Hymn Book
Lovely tune, beautiful words and the woman who wrote it is alive, and lives a full life!
I just posted a poem on my Ukraine blog. I found it very true to my heart.
Women who live the life of their dreams don't get there by being dainty and darling. They demand what they want and do what it takes to make it happen. That could mean breaking a few rules, a few hearts and a few habits along the way especially the habit of apologizing for who you are.
I've got nothing, literally nothing... so just ditto to what Tami said, she has good ones:-)I know, I am so helpful. I just told Tami on her blog that my brain is like mush right now between these court dates!! I think I might lose my mind if it gets postponed again!!
I always try to remeber why I am doing it....for my children, and nothing is more important to me than that!
I LOVE the quote and poem, and the fact that you want to "focus on becoming, not on losing." You have inspired ME.
I don't have anything for YOU other than the inspirational magnet pinned on my fridge:
"Put on your big girl panties and deal with it"
Well... my inspirational fridge poster features a quote from an awesome Swiss woman I met in Africa. She's in her fifties and runs marathons up the Alps. She signed off an email to me once with "Now I’ve to kick into my ass and go for my regularly running exercises even if I’m that tired like hell."
So I put that on a poster.
I know, Kate's is more inspirational.
