doggie do-gooders

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be measured by the way in which its animals are treated." – Mahatma Ghandi

It’s been my experience that the manner in which a pet dog is treated is a very good indicator of the basic human decency of that dog’s owner.

It’s a great litmus test – do you own a well-trained, well-loved dog, who is treated with kindness, humor, consistency, and affection? Then I probably want to be your friend.

My good friend Clare has a neighbor who was horribly neglecting a lovely dog, and Clare and my fabulous sister together stepped up to do something about it.

The dog – who will be now named Tallulah La Dulce Sister Mary-Joseph Merriman (or Lulu for short!) is about to have a rags-to-riches experience that will probably blow her mind.

She's going to be staying with Clare for a while (where Clare - who is an amazing animal trainer, wonderful pet owner, and quality human being - will take care of her, start training her, get her shots and spayed, etc).

Then, she is going to live permanently with my sister (where my sister - who has the same attributes - will be loving her up good for the rest of her doggie life).

Yay for Lulu!

That is so awesome!!! And as for those previous owners... someone should take THEM to be spayed and neutered to be sure they don't procreate!

YAY for Ms. Lulu!

Oh, I do love a labby dog.... she looks like a doll. I sympathize with your friend, I would have been plotting her kidnap also.
