the good family

Soon after I told her of my plans, my mother offered to accompany me to Ethiopia when I go to get Sprout.

But after some thought on both sides, we talked at Christmastime, and we decided that might not be for the best – I’d be worried about her, and want to take care of her, and she’d want me to be focused on Sprout.

So, she very generously told me that she’d like to give me the money that she would have spent on a trip to Addis Ababa. And, that I can use it toward the expense of bringing Sprout home. How wonderful is that? It's especially timely, because I just wrote the check today for my Home Study – not cheap.

And, last but definitely not least, I formally asked my sister Kate if she'd be Sprout's Godmother, and she said yes.

I feel so blessed to have family who support me in so many ways.

You are very very blessed. I am probably going on my own, no one immediately comes to mind to bring, I believe (as you will know from my post yesterday) that it would be too stressful for my mom. It would be nice if someone could be there for emotional support and to take pictures!

That's wonderful. The thought of me traveling to remote Siberia on my own really freaked my mother out, but she's in her 70s so she wouldn't have come with me.

It's really generous of your mom to volunteer to go, and even more generous to donate the funds to the adoption. Yay Mama Chou-Chou!

How wonderful that you have a Godmother lined up for Sprout.

That's good news all the way around... but I'm sure you would have prefered to have your mom join you.
