In which I whinge
I have gone to work for The Man.
It could hardly be said that my Business-Casual, Dog-Friendly, Benefits-Generous, Filled-With-Smart -People workplace is a factory.
But, *damn* it's just sinking in that I am now an employee. Whereas I have been self employed for the last 5 years. Self-employed means constant and unpredictable work, but it also means being the master of one's own schedule.
So, if I was tired, I slept in, and then just worked into the night. Or worked on Saturday and Sunday. Or whatever. I loved making my own schedule. Granted, I very rarely had more than one day off in a row. And, I often had no days off for long stretches of time. But it seemed like it was my choice.
Now, I'm on the 5-days-on, 2-days-off thing, like most of America. And, while I am loving the 2-days-off part, the 5-days-on is bugging me. I don't like having to go to an office every day. waaaah.
What a freakin' crybaby. My goodness.
OK, I'm over that now.
Mostly, I'm just tired because:
1) it's exhausting being the newbie at work - I have to ask tons of questions, and I don't know how things are done, or who to go to for anything. by the time 4:00 in the afternoon rolls around, I am toast.
2) i'm "staging" my house, which means removing 1/3 of all my belongings, so it will look enticing and roomy to potential home buyers. This involves lots of sorting, packing, hauling, piling, and cleaning. In the evenings after I get home from work.
So, not enough down time. But, it will come -- this weekend, I'm hostessing a Grey's Anatomy marathon. Which is a nice way of saying I'll be sitting my fat ass down on my comfy sofa and vegging out for many hours in a row. YAY for sloth.

Since you have an Elle design I find it only fitting that I be your first commenter. Welcome to the roller coaster!
