Today is Christmas Day in Ethiopia

Merry Christmas! Happy Ganna! Or, in Ahmaric: Melkam Yelidet Beaal!

The Ethiopian Christmas known as Ganna is celebrated on January 7th. The word Ganna is used interchangeably with the word Christmas, to mean the birth of Jesus Christ (leddat).

Here is a good article about Christmas traditions in Ethiopia.
