good people

There are days when I get bummed out about things, big and small.

And then there are days where I am just so happy and grateful to be around. Last night I went for dinner at the home of some friends I haven't seen in ages - probably 7 or 8 years. I went to law school with Amy and she and her husband James were some of my favorite people in my little law school social world. They are smart, funny, wise, irreverent, generous, and just all-around lovely people.

We fell out of touch but recently got back in touch, which is great. I had such a fantastic time at their house for dinner - just seemed like no time had passed at all. We talked a lot about my adoption process, and James (a very frequent flier) asked me all about the trip and route, etc. He mentioned he had tons of frequent flier miles and I (half-jokingly) said he could give me any extra. Well he picked up that ball and ran with it.

This morning he emailed me asking for my FF account number. I gave him an "out" if he wanted it (something about margaritas and casual discussions of things which in the cold hard light of day might not seem like good ideas).

But, nope - he wanted to do it, and promptly transferred into my United frequent flier account all the miles he could.

And Amy sent me the nicest email ever, in which she pretended like I hadn't rudely dominated the conversation (believe me I did - it was kind of embarrassing).

I'm so blessed with friends like these.

Sometimes this process restores my faith in my fellow man.

And there is nothing better than old friends.

I love it when these little blessings come our way. That's fantastic and probably soooo welcome from you. See, one less MAJOR thing to worry about. That's fantastic!!!
